Has anyone bought this package for the the 235 Chevy, they boast 60% performance gains

if you go to Cliffords home page, click on news and then scroll down and click on chevy facts, they list the parts on there, it is a combination of clifford intake, 38-38 weber carb, headers and cam kit including all new lifters & springs

I would be amazed if that were true especially by just adding those parts and no machining.

I think the claims are credible depending on how things were measured, mixed in with a little of what panic said about "ported, decked, etc...."
For example, consider the May 1955 Hot Rod buildup of the 261cid. They dyno'd a stock 261 at 114hp (I think that was thru the muffler so kind of net hp), ended up at 197hp after 9 stages, doing sort of what Clifford did but some head and compression work too. That is a 73% gain in net hp. So on that basis I could believe what Clifford is saying.
I used my own DeuceCoupe Gonkulator to calculate what Clifford's kit might do - these are all SAE GROSS calculatednumbers (open exhaust, no belts, 60F 29.92 dry air):
Stock 235 "123hp" Torq 201 at 2200 Powr 115 at 3700
Clifford 4v intake, 390 Holley, headers, 264h cam No work to head or compression Torq 216 at 3100 Powr 168 at 4500 Not exactly a 60% gain but a pretty doggone good gain comparing gross output. Kicking up the dismal 7.5 compression would have to help, along with some head work, I am no expert on the 235/261 heads though.
I do think there are some mixed claims in the Clifford News page - for example, 320 ftlb is very reasonable for a 292cid built with similar parts, but not for a 230cid or a 261cid even. They are kind of loose on exactly how their tests were done and what number refers to what engine (cid) but overall their claims are not unbelievable.
