Hey gusy...I have been registered here for a while now, but have only posted a very few times. I have a 300 that I am wanting to hop up and maybe race. I have been a V8 man for a while, but really like the inlines. I am wanting to know of any upgrades that I can do be it mild or extream. Where are good places to get performance parts etc....Pretend I know nothing.
P.S. I know of Clifford.
Thanks...Jarrett

Dear Jarrett;
I would guess the same you would do to any engine.
Increase the displacement/compression and get someone to gring a cam & ballance it all.
Add a 'hot' coil, headers and a Clifford manifold should do the trick.
Good luck, John M......

Hello I would like to answer you guys with a question since you brought up the Ford 300, its the closest engine that compares with the GM 292.
So whats the better engine of the two, I heard that the Ford 300s have all kinds of problems with timing gears busting and someone told me that the Ford inlines are harder to rebuild then GMs 292 is this true or garbage.?
I personally like 292s cause there easy to modify and adapt to any GM vehicles trannys. I would consider GMs to be more high class vehicles, Fords trucks were only good for farmers or some other job situations were you could trow comfort and style features out the window.

well, im 18 i just rebuilt a 300 thats in my F-100 right now and am hopping up my 240 that is the original engine for my pick up, they are crazy reliable and are sooooo easy to work on as far as im concerned i mean, they are simple, im dealing with models that dont need any smog though cause my truck is 66 so it doesnt require it, and im carb not efi, i havent dealt with 292's so i dont know how easy they are to work on but personally i think 240/300's are cake. and they run nice too.
Question guys, what do you think is better, the Clifford intake manifold or the Offy dual port? i was looking at both and couldnt decide which one to get.
