started tearing down a 235 stovebolt. got the 3 speed trans off and the throw out bearing. i need help on getting the bell housing off. there are two bolts on the outside at the top and two bolts on the inside near the top. i read that you need to take out the pressure plate and clutch disc before you can get this specific bell housing off the back of the motor. is this correct? this bell housing isnt like the 60's standards or a v8 bell housing. detailed direction would be great. thanks

Yes there are bolts internally that hold on the bellhousing and the flywheel, clutch and pressure plate have to be removed first to access these bolts before the bellhousing can be removed.

Yes, that would help. Just keep in mind that you still have to remove the flywheel and all other related components to remove the bellhousing, several bolts are hidden underneath the flywheel and you cant get to those unless its taken off first.

got it off completely. after taking off the clutch pad and pressure plate, couple bolts holding on the fly wheel, and finding that there are four bolts up inside the bell housing plus 2 on the top outside, it came off with a little persuasion of a leather mallet. thanks for the help.

You should getting the bell housing off with a seized motor, quite the experience.
