Inliners International Forums General Discussion Engines 194 Rebuild question

Ok so this might be a stupid question but heres goes. I just bought a 63 with a 194 and am getting ready to start making some changes, intake, headers, carbs, etc . I'd like to keep the 194 and rebuild it which, leads to my question. Since alot of the parts for the 250 and 194 are interchangable is it possible to use a rebuild kit for a 250 on a 194?

No, the 194 cannot be bored out big enough to make it a 250.

Gaskets and bearings are the same. Rings are larger for the 250 so they don't work. I assume someone has given you a complete o/h kit for a 250 so thats why you're asking? One area to be careful of is with the cam bearings. Up to 1970 the 2 bearings at the ends of the block have a different OUTSIDE diameter than the 2 center cam bearings. The 4 bearings inside diameters are all the same for the cam journals. If you or your machinist is getting these bearings separate from a complete o/h kit for a 194 then be sure to check this carefully.

I have to second The Bearing Issue I ran into this Problem with a 250 The front bearing Had to be shaved to get the cam installed Because the kit wasn't the right cam bearing kit.So when the bearing was installed into the block The cam wouldn't fit. Hops this helps }[oooooo]
