I just got my fenton headers for my 54 belair,tore everything out and try to put them on and they wont fit worth a ****!! I can trim part of the motormount to try to fit the L bends to the mufflers but we are talkin like 4" of room in therewith the E brake, steering box, pitman arm and all that jazz, but the back header wont clear the firewall and if I wedge it in there real hard my whole motor is shifts to the side, and even if I get them in there my linkage wont work anymore either. How the hell do you guys with 49 to 54 chevy's do it???? Any help is greatly appreciated

You might want to try a 53/54 corvette header exhaust, fits real nice.

Dear Rusty;

As I recall those were designed for cars of the 30's & 40's & most trucks where the engine mounts are in the front etc.

I would check with Patrick's & see if they have an answer.

The 53-4 Vette is the answer but costs $1,000.00

Good luck, John M..

If the Fentons don't do the job, get your money back and call Kansas Kustoms. These guys can split your stock header for less money than the fentons and quality work! Call Mike at 620 663-3256.

Stovebolt is a very respected inline parts dealer, especially on this site.Have you told Tom Langdon of your problem? He may have an answer.

Dear Rusty;

PS: There is a Co. that makes 'tube' headers for the 216, 235, 261" as well. There in California & sell for about $150.00.

They have a similar shape to the Fenton brand but are slimer etc.

I would check with Tom first.

Good luck, John M....

I have owned about a half dozen sets of Fentons over the years.I have had three sets that were different from each other.They dumped out at different angles.I think the tubing set being sold would be your bet.They could be modified very easy to suit your needs.

\:D you know I actually figured everything out and got it all to fit and work correctly. I shaved the back header so it clears the firewall and I took the linkage rod to the carb and flipped it around the opposite way now it clears, I seem to be blowin a little oil now though, think i put to much stress on the filter line. but other than that ridin the gravy train. thanx for all the help fella's much appreciated
