I just got my reman 250 installed in my 1965 C20 pickup. I've got a couple of holley weber 2 barrel carbs that I would like to install one of on my engine instead of the rochester carb.
Does anybody have any idea of how to go about figuring the linkage out? All I seem to get done is get the primary barrel to engage but I cant seem to get into the secondary. as the linkage doesnt travel enough. Right now the linkage is connected to the pivot on the intake manifold. I'm not sure if I need to look at a cable system or not.

below is a couple of pics of the 2 different carbs linkage side. the side that faces the fire wall. I believe on is vega and the other a holley.

thanks mark

Have you looked at what Tom Langdon sells? May give you an idea of what to use or just buy one of his set ups if you think it would work. He's in the 12 Port Advertisers link.

Has anybody ever used bicycle cable?

That's what I thought I'd use when I put the 4bbl on my 292.

I've used a high quality bicycle cable for a single 2V application. There is a large difference between GOOD bike cable and cheap stuff. The good stuff has more strands and higher tensile strength and the housing is lined with teflon or nylon. It's not the best choice but it will work for short distances where the bends are few. I also turn my own housing ends and cable clevises which get TIG welded in place (none of that set screw anchoring stuff).

LOKAR MAKES THE BEST CABLE SETUP. YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT SO DONT CUT ANY CORNERS IN THIS AREA. JUST THINK WHAT IT WOULD BE LIKE TO LOOSE YOUR THROTTLE IN FREEWAY TRAFFIC........

well i'm kind of liking the cable idea but I need to fab some kind of pivot that will raise or pull the carb linkage up. pushing on accelerator pulls cable back but also pulls the linkage up at the carb. or something like that.
