To make a 230 into a 250, you will need the crank, rods and pistons. The block is the same. If you want to build a hot motor with custom pistons and rods starting with the 230 will work. If you want basically a stocker or slightly modified motor, you would probably find it cheaper and easier to find a complete 250.
