It would Cost you over 1,000 To Put a 292 crank in the 230 Or even a 250. And What You END up with is a LOW DECK 292. That wants to Push The RODs out the side of the Block.
Yes you can put a 250 crank into a 230 and End Up with a 250 As long as you USE either 250 Pistons Or the 307s( should also have the Blocks Line Bore checked when Swapping Cranks) The rods are them same. If your just after a good HOT L6 you can do this with the 230 It self. The 230 has a flat top piston to start with, Over the 250s which is a dished piston. If you want to Bump up the compression Then Have the Head shaved a little and Be sure to Zero Deck The block to piston Head. Pick a cam To best suite what your after. And You must realy Think about the Head work For The combo. Other wise You will be pretty Much just tossing your money away.
