So I decided to rebuild the 250 that came in my C10 rather than be the 100th guy with a 5.3ls swap. I?m just in the planning stages but could use some help as I?m not used to building for a Turbo. Due to funds I will be building it first as a NA motor but want it to be Turbo Ready? when the money allows it. My biggest sticking point right now are what Cam and Pistons should I run to be decent NA with a nice sounding idle but then wake up when a turbo is added. Right now I?m looking at 10lbs or less of boost. But you never know. lol

As for your compression stay with the stock 8-1 But go with a foraged piston. Go with ARP studs that you will be good if you wish to push the 10lbs of boost, Get a good head gasket something better than a stock one. As for the cam stay hyd. You can up to a 530 lift and still be a hyd. cam

Thanks, The plan was to definitely go Hyd. but I?m not sure what Dur. And LSA would be best. I?m looking at two Comp cams.
1. 218/218 dur. 110LSA .499 lift 2. 230/230 dur. 110LSA .536
From what I?ve read I think the 218 would be better with boost, but not not sure if the 110LSA would be ok

They both should work. There has been years of debate over cams. But not long-ago power nation did a you tube vid on it.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with! I'm in a similar boat as you (planning)!

I would go 9-1 to keep the motor responsive. Low compression can make a lazy engine. 12Bolt has cams. Used to have turbo grinds but too hard to get cores. The Hytork or Thrifty would work well. Keep in mind, timing control is key!

78RatC10 Check with Delta cams They can do a regrind to your stock cam for less than a new cam. And it will perform better than your stock and work good with the turbo. You can also check out Crower Cams, schneider cams, Howard cams, Clay Smith cams, Right Now Schneider cams seem to be out of stock.
