I have a 1965 chevy ii with a 230. I am looking to give it a little zip, 250-275 hp should I stroke it or leave it as a 230 . I am planning on a 12 bolt head from 12 bolt Tom with some hyperk pistons with a cam ! suggestions?

You cannot change the crank without changing the pistons

I would say yes to making it into a 250. All that is needed is the 250 pistons and crankshaft during the rebuild. 20 more cubes = 20 more TQ and HP. Also easy to make 250 HP from a 250

If you plan on swapping cranks you should have the line bore checked. Even with swapping the same crank from one block to another it is good to have that checked when rebuilding an engine. The line bore can be off. I have personally run into that issue when swapping cranks. The factory is not built as close to tolerances as you may think. The misalignments can cause Cam to crank gear issues as well.

Tom, what would you suggest besides pistons, and a 250 crank, a cam, and one of your heads for a build to get me in the 275-300 hp range? I am in the planning stages of my build, going in a chevy ii with 3 on the tree with a 3.08 rearend. feel free with suggestions! you're the man from what I can gather on gm sixes!
