I ordered ARP studs for the main caps and they came in on Tuesday. I will take them over to the machine shop so that they can be installed before the boring and sleeves are done.

The cam grinder suggested a two degree advance or retard might be necessary to get the cam timing just right, so I picked up a four degree offset key for the crankshaft. If it?s not out at least two degrees, we won?t bother, but I?ll have it if we need it. The dern thing is expensive! $35.00 delivered. Nobody in town had one!

I brought the crank inside, (it?s been a hundred degrees here almost every day for several weeks) and did a final polish on it. I quit at 1200 grit. I have 2000, but I don?t think it?s necessary. I probably could have left it alone, but the rear main seal picked up some very fine surface rust, so I cleaned it up with 600 and then did the whole crank with the twelve.. Boredom will probably be the death of me!!
