Have completed short block. Sprayed down a couple of times with equivalent of WD 40. Noted that it liquified some of the assembly lube in the lower end. Need to put block up for a few months. How about 5W motor oil and wrap in Saran wrap? Could install oil pump and pan and circulate oil with distributor shaft and drill. Overkill? I have never had to stop in the middle of something like this. Any advice appreciated. Ray

A cylinder and journal wipe down with 5W would be good as would pre-lubing although that is not necessary if you if you apply enough oil. Make sure you put the crankcase pan on and after wrapping try to avoid humid storage as some moisture can condense under the wrap from hot/cold temperature changes.

Thanks, Drew. I guess I am somewhat paranoid about rust and corrosion after living on MS Gulf Coast for so long. It sounds like what I had in mind will protect what I have completed for a while. It is not very humid here at all. Ray
