Thanks Sunshine, Ive done a little more rummaging though old photosand mags etc..
The larger port is a bowl vent according to the carter manual I finally found (any different from EGR??), although I'm not sure what it normally connects to, I think its there to assist "hot start ups" etc. Did you run into any problems by capping this?
As for the smaller port , I came across an old photo which showed it connected to a port at botttom of the electric choke housing.
