I have an 84 block. stock except for .040 overbore to round out cylinders. Have two heads.
Both are NON integral.
Have wandered through internet until I am dizzy trying to decide what they are.
Head #1: 3927768 A179 (Maybe Jan 17 9th year in the decade?) What size engine did it come off of?
Head #2: 3982084 H18 (Maybe August 1 8th year in the decade?) What size engine did it come off of? If it can be determined what they are as far as size goes and they are different, is one a better bet than the other? Any help is greatly appreciated. Ray

Ray, you might want to clean up the area where you are reading the numbers. I have two numbers that are very close and easy to mistake if not clearly read right. Double check, I think that your number "3927768" should be -3927763- and your number "3982084" should be -3962084-. If the numbers I provided are correct, then both are from '62-'79 250 block. Let us know what you find.

You didn't miss it Maxvamp, I did. It is a 250 C.I.D. GM out of a PU truck. I ran the numbers down on it and I am sure of what it is. Sorry about the omission. Getting old I guess. I proof read the message, too!

Ted65Mali, you are right on the money. I drug the heads out in the sunlight and cleaned the numbers with carb. cleaner for good measure. Yes, I know I am supposed to wear the d--- things but they aggravate the snot out of me and I did not have them along on the first time I looked at the numbers. I was able to read the numbers out in the open without the glasses, but I used them to be sure. I thought that in 1975 GM went to integral heads on all inline sixes. Incorrect? Anyway, it looks as though one will be as good a candidate as another as long as it crack checks o.k.

Moral: Pay attention when proof reading and wear glasses. Thanks guys, I really appreciate the help. I obviously need it!
