OK, its been quite a long since I've posted on here, but, I see that you may benefit from my experience. That said, don't waste your money on a chrome timing cover, or anything else for that matter. I bought one for the '56 235 I rebuilt last April. It leaked like a seive, not just around the front main area, but from around most of the gasket sufrace. Fortunately I was able to swap it out easily for a freshly painted one I had, since I had drilled the threads out and installed the bottom 2 bolts form the front. Now, it looks like I need to replace that darned chrome thermostat housing...
