I aquired my grandfather's 1952 GMC towtruck after it sat in a junkyard for over 20 years. It has a 1955-1963 270 engine. Does anyone know where I can find some of the old Howard or Wayne heads and other performance parts to fit this engine?

there are parts like intakes, headers, pistons, cams, etc, etc, available from clifford, stovebolt engine company and others. more cams and valve gear from iskendarian, comp cams, etc. however, locating and buying an after-market head is gonna take big (BIG) bucks! you can do an awful lot with a 270 and it's stock head.

unless you're planning an attempt at record- breaking drag racing, or bonneville, i'd plan to use what you got. these are sweet engines, with a lot of potential, using modified from-the-factory parts and some go-goodies from Inliner-friendly parts suppliers.

Lord, let me live long enough to do all the projects I have planned!
