I just acquired a 1950 Plymouth 3 passenger Coupe with a Chevy 6 in it. The person I got the car from was not the one that did the engine swap and he knows nothing about it.

I have been unable to find the casting number, but just to the left of the distributor I found the following number FO327PL. The head just above had either 20F 2710, 28F 2710, or 29F 2710. This is probably not much help, but the oil filter is a spin on type Fram PH30.

The car also has a power glide but I see no lines from the radiator back to it. The rear axle is also chevy.

Any help in determining what I have is very appreciated.

Dear Fred;

This is the 'later' (230/250) style engine & trans.

Try Larry AKA (twisted six/novaman) for info on these.

Good luck. \:\)

Welcome Fred, No cooler lines to trans, could be an air cooled 'glide? They can be ID'd by 4 large holes in side of bellhousing, and plugs in cooler line fittings. Cases are identical, but the cooler bypass valve was removed from the pump to allow the fluid to circulate thru the trans without a cooler.

The F0327PL you found stamped on a machined surface aft the distributor should read as follows; F - Flint,Michigan, 03 - Month of March, 27 - Day in March, P and L are vehicle and power train options and I don't know what they mean specifically. Hope this little bit will help. I checked what data I have from a recent search such as the one you are making and did not turn up anything on your casting numbers. Ray

Thanks for the help. I found a casting # of 3921968 which translates to a 230-250. 1964-1976. Not sure I know much more now.

I also located the lines from the radiator to the powerglide.

Fred
