Hello, I'm trying to get a good carb setup on my 235 chevy inline 6 and I have two different single barrels. This thing drinks gas and I know before years ago when I first got the car on the road, I got 22 mpg on the highway with the 4.10 rear axle. Both tailpipe tips were gray/tan. Now I have a 3.55 axle and the engine has been rebuild and carb gotten older and now this has to get probably 12-15 mpg and the tailpipes are black. I have a dual offenhauser intake and tried that and it got even worse so I put the stock intake back on with the single barrel. I have both a carter and rochester carb (when I was running the duals, I ran both the same) and was wondering which one you would reccomemnd and any tips on getting it tuned just right. Would going back to the duals be better? I heard to get a neoprene accelerator pump and to make sure I have the right gasket on the base that allows vacuum to a certain port. I still have to take the carb off to check the gasket. Any help and info would be great, thanks.

On the left of this page is a blue menu bar: click the "Tech Tips" there, then "Multiple Rochesters" on the next page. I think you may find the link very helpful.
