Folks the pile of parts is slowly melting into a complete truck, however, I could use a couple of pictures to determine how the power steering bracket (its a 292 bracket..) bolts to the engine. This is the first time all these parts have seen each other ( and it was a big pile when I started the assembly).

The block is an early ('64) vintage 292, the head is off a mid-70's 250. The power steering bracket came off of 70's 292 - not sure as it was sitting on the shelf at a local wreckers for many years.

I have headers installed so a couple of pix with headers and the pump will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Update...

What appears to be simple never is...

Block is a 292 - cast 1964
Head is a 250 - early 70's vintage
PS bracket - 292

The 292 PS bracket just would not line up with ANY of the mounting holes and I was just about ready to install a manual steering box out of frustation.

I finally found a 250 in a local wreckers (forget finding a 292 around here you might as well be looking for a '60's hemi block - same luck)and the mounting pattern was different. Got the bracket from the 250 and problem solved.

So the key to mount the PS pump is that the PS bracket MUST match the head that is what makes the difference. The lower support bracket is also different between the 250 and 292 due to the added deck height.

Can't find a 292 bracket - easier way out change the head to a 250 and your done.

Did you have any clearance problems with the headers. I started to install a PS setup on a 292 I had on the engine stand and found that the bracket had to be modified to clear the headers.

The 250 bracket needed a good size chunk cut out to clear the #1 header tube. Some much so that I think it needs to have a brace welded in.

250 and 292 heads take different brackets. That 292 bracket you have should be worth a good bit of money since nobody can ever find them.

I hope that posting a link to another forum isn't against the rules.
efi-diy had ask this same question on both forums back in July.
