There is no significant difference between the 250 and 292 heads. Swapping one for the other will gain you nothing but the experience of changing it, scraping gaskets, and a lightened wallet. You can only gain compression by milling the head (VERY little gain) or by changing the pistons to a set that has less dish in the top, preferrably flat-tops so you don't get too much increase and risk pinging and detonation (bad!)
