Here is the progress on my 1940's era champ car with a "DOHC 4 valve straight eight" race motor.

Frenchtown, Like the "stately, dignified" look of the long nose profile. Is that a Whippet grille shell and econoline front axle? Also the surroundings look like something from a postcard. VERY nice.

Yes Old, That is my custom fabbed Whippet shell, chopped 3", and a '56 Ford pickup truck axle, narrowed 6" and converted to a suicide transverse suspension.

Regarding the backdrop - it seems hard to believe but 1000 feet east is a congested shopping mall and across my street they are building 1100 new homes. I think it was Casey Stengle who first said,"Progress was OK once but it went on for too long."

On the other hand, my wife tells me everyone wants to be the LAST one in the neighborhood

I know the feeling!
1988 - we moved out of the city, 35 miles from Dallas, to a podunk one horse town.
"Ah we'll never have to wory about too many neighbors this far out" I told my wife.
2006 - I'm surrounded by new home additions and my little "1 Street Town" will issue 5000 new home permits in the next 4 years. My 45 minute, 37 mile drive is up to 1hr and 20 minutes (on a good day) and climbing quickly.
What's land in Australia going for an acre?

Dear 'Flyer:

Great project! I'll be interested to follow along as you progress.

If you have a few minutes, you might want to look at the web site "uncommonengineering.com" to see some of their interesting projects. They apparently have a (new) vintage "Miller Finned Centrifugal Supercharger" that might be of interest to you. I have no idea what the cost might be (probably not for the faint of heart?) but it sure would be right in keeping with the era and type of car.

love the DOHC inline eight(felt something erotic about that motor!)in sydney the same things going on.land is about $200000 a block(and that's 100km away! any closer and you have to knock down a house to get a block to build on!)at least most areas from sydney have a train service to the center of the city(i live 29km out and it's an hour and 15 drive or a 45"train trip-guess which one i do!)that's progress for ya!

Nice rolls on the "cam" cover. Single press? or roll? Were the intakes from a cast iron or aluminum manifolds? Are you going to machine anything to hide the stock cam gears?

Remember to call it a Henway....All creations are Henways

I made the cam cover using a homemade bending roll that I originally used to make dragster bodies. I hope to work out something to continue the cam drive down to the damper too. The intake was made from three standard production cast iron intake manifolds. Check out www.fordsix.com for additional progress reports, under the "240/300" engine forum.

Merry Christmas Inliners!
