Having finished the "LEO" book , what would you recommend next? Any other out there like it? How about a good 230/250/292 Chilton`s manual? Are they much of a help in the learning process? Thanks in advance. Slider

Dear Slider; Take a course at your local Jr. College Auto Shop department. This (auto mechaics) is a "learn by doing" trade, with books/magazine articles being only a small part. Good luck.

Dear Slider:
Even though my main inline iterest falls over in the Ford camp with the 240/300 inch inline sixes, I own any early copy of Leo's book and have read it cover-to-cover many times; always finding tips and ideas that apply regardless of the engine brand.
So I would recommend that you consider reading the book written by (the late) Smokey Yunick. Having just moved, my copy is still packed away somewhere in a pile of boxes so I can't give you the exact title or publisher but you should be able to find it on amazon.com or via a web search.
While most of the book is directed at Smokey's work with the small block Chevy and stock car racing, he outlines a great deal of theory (in a way we mortals can understand) and experience that can be applied to virtually any engine. It's well worth reading and having for general reference.

Say John, thanks for the idea. I am a U.S. Navy trained Jet engine mechinic and have worked on SBC for 30 years. Rebuilt many Chevies, VW`s ,and Harley engines. So i don`t think it is the schooling so much as it is the book knowledge i am after before i attack the project at hand. Thank you.
Russk I will look for the Smokey book. Thank you friend. You guys have a fun day today. Slider
