Happy New Year all. I was hoping someone here would know what the proper fuel pressure is from a stock mechanical fuel pump for a Chevy 250 out of a '76 Nova. Long story short, I had to change to an electronic fuel pump and set the pressure regulator at 3.5 lbs. Am I in the right neighborhood? Motor is stock, carb is stock, etc. Thanks for your help.

Well most Holly Carburetor take 5-7psi so I would think 3-5psi is a good ballpark figure. Just keep an eye on it and see if the car feel like its running out of gas under hard acceleration or on hard turns. Also look down the barrel of the carb and make sure there is no fuel leaking into the intake. If not then your good.

Thanks for the quick reply RevOD. The carb that's on the 250 is a single Rochester Monojet. At first I had the fuel psi set at 5 lbs. The problem I had was when I was stuck in traffic and idling for a really long time. It would seem like the carb would start to load up and feel like it was going to stall especially if I went over a speed bump or something that would cause some sloshing. I figured the bowl was filling up to much at long idles. I set it down to 3.5 psi and haven't been stuck in traffic yet. We'll see what happens. At 3.5 psi. I haven't had any starving while accelerating up hills or on corners. Mahalo for the help.
