Need to replace carb on my 1954 261--seems to be wide range of prices for 1-bbl. Do you recommend that I go with vintage vendor (like Jim Carter) or would local parts house work as well? Is there a specific Rochester recommended for a 261?

Suggestions appreciated...T.K.

If you're looking for period correct as in a true restoration a vintage vendor or rebuilder probably is the way to go. If it's just a fun cruiser any appropriate Roch. 1 bbl from places like NAPA would work. Have you considered rebuilding it yourself?
