Working on friends 250 Chevy six integral. Just put a new cam and lifters in the Nova . Timed it and set timing at 2 degrees over. Idles well and starts well.Trying to keep the integral alive until we can build another 250.
1. Car had power and was driving well. Suddenly won't go over 40mph.
2. We have removed A/c that not working, there is a metal hose that comes out of area behind carb that went into A/c unit. Is this Vacuum for A/C? Should we plug this?

Any thoughts as to why we have no power now?

James

James,
You definitely need to block any open vacuum sources. How does it idle? When you say you set the timing to 2 degrees over, do you mean it's only 2 degrees advanced? Do you have the vacuum advance for the distributor hooked up, can you verify it is working by looking at the breaker plate while applying vacuum from another source?

If it runs ok at idle, and just won't gain speed, sounds like timing, or more lack of advance at higher RPM.

Good luck,

Shawn

Some guy used carb spray on his Syclone & started an engine fire.
Stater fluid evaporates fast as carb spray will just sit in or on an intake manifold puddle up & be a good place to sit there & just burn baby burn.

Two cents

hey guys, found a few vacuum lines unplugged and this 75 era engine has many.

I manage to get them all hooked up to something but there is this one elctrical unit off of the back firewall that has two plugs for vacuum coming form it. What is it?

Thanks

James
