Gear choices are all compromise. in this area you cant have your cake and eat it too.
A good gear for a street performance car is 3.55 because its enough change to increase performance yet still be a cruiser on the interstate. wheel size affects the overall ratio as well so it must be figured in when picking a gear size. There are calculators on the internet to figure out what your rpm will be with what size tires/gear ratio/mph.
but to give you an idea 3.55 gears with P205/14 tires will run right at 3000 rpm at 60mph, I suspect thats about the size tires on your Maverick. there are not many gear options for your differential, but you can play with the tire size and fudge your rpm range up or down quite a bit. good luck with your project.
