Ok so i just got the Powerglide handbook and started reading through it which got me thinking that i'm going to need to do more than a basic overhaul. First on the list of problems, when im slowing to a stop i just a really harsh downshift unless i pump the gas alittle while im slowing down. I replaced teh vacuum modulator, checked for vacuum leaks, found none and nothing's changed. The next thing i noticed was while the at idle i would open it up a bit and where the tranny mounts to the block it seems to have some vibration. I thought that i would be able to take care of these problems with a simple overhaul but again after reading into it i'm not sure if its worth completely rebuilding or just swaping out for a new one.

Sorry this is a bit long winded but im starting to get frustrated before i even get started. If anyone has some input it would be a huge help. I would hate to start this only to find out that i could have done a swap for the same cost.

fred43,If this is the cast iron powerglide seriously think about replacing the rubberized/metal trans mounts. With age/mileage
they are notorious for increasing vibration and bad shifts from looseness and misalignment.
