I have a 1950 Chevy Deluxe sedan with a 261 Jimmy for power. I want to pull 3 spd and stock rearend out. Replace with 4spd open drive line and s10 rearend. Question> Is there a bellhousing that will bolt to 261 and except the Saginaw 4spd? If so do I need a special clutch fork and throwout bearing? Any help is appreciated.

The best way is an adapter from Buffalo Ent. using your 216 housing/clutch linkage etc.

You will also need a longer pilot bushing too.

We covered all of this in an earlier post. I didn't mention using a longer pilot bushing in that post because I wasn't sure it could be done without hiting the clutch disc hub. But if you can get it to work, then that's the way to go, but using a T5 would be a better choice...

Thanks John and Gearhead. Yes John I know Jimmy is slang for GMC. My 261 came from a GMC truck. Another guy called me tonight and said the bell housing from a 55 to 62 chevy car which had a 6 in it would work. I don't know if this is true or not but will also check it out before buying an adapter. I will call Buffalo in the morning though. Thanks again
