Hi folks, haven't been to the BB much...wife & kids take priority.
> Here's my dilemma: Installed new flywheel on 292...the old one was a PAIN to get off. When I positioned the new one it wouldn't slide on the crank flange easily(just like the old one wouldn't come off easily).I thought,"No problem, just squirt a lil' lubricant on the 3 dowels, and as I snug down on the bolts it will draw the fly wheel onto the crank flange as long as I tighten the bolts evenly, starting at 12 o'clock, then 6,then 9,etc." Did this and it worked great,except.....
> when I felt the bolts were tight to the extent that the back of the flywheel was completely flat against the crank,I looked back there to check, and it appears that as I snugged down the bolts it simultaneously pushed the steel dowels out the rear of the crank flange...one is right up against the back of the block.Guess I shoulda put a shim in there to prevent that but really didn't think that would happen. It's so tight against the block that now I can't spin the flywheel by hand.(No,it is not seized)
>Any ideas on how I can remedy this situation? Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.
