If the 194 is tired than maybe now is a good time to go hunting for 230 or 250.
Even bone stock you gain 35 hp going from 194 to the 250. (but save the 194 head!)
You need to find a block,oil pump, and pan set up for a front sump.
Plus side is that you can drive car for a while until engine is ready to go in.
I made this mistake with my Chevelle, rebuilding the 194 when the car really screamed for a bigger engine.
