The 261 I pulled out of a 1961 Canadian Pontiac was originally equipped with a powerglide transmission. There was a cast-iron adapter between the engine and the transmission. Can this be used to mount any other transmissions to the 261 or is it just for the powerglide? Thanks, Bob

Dear Bob; Just the (iron) Powerglide fits that. GM ran out of Pontiac engines/transmissions 'way back when' etc. Buffalo Ent. makes the (kit) for the TH-350 & other/newer autos which are better that the 2 speed Powerglide, if you must go with an automatic. Most use a 3/5 with OD (stick) with those. Good luck

Thanks. I will likely use the early 60's SM420 and the 1952 Chevrolet truck bellhousing I already have for my '50 Chev 3100 project. Likely need to look at a rear ratio around 3.08 to get good hwy speeds with that combo (yes, it will have rebuilt suspension and front disc brakes). Could go with a T5 to get OD but not sure if I like relocating the floor shift closer to the seat. Bob

Hi Bob Sorry I don't have any information other then it sounds like you have a cool project, and I have T5 in my 54 chevy pickup and I like it alot. I like it so much that I am getting ready to put one in my 54 GMC. I like to be able to shift gears, not everyone does. Good luck with what you deside to do. I would like to know if someone can add the phone number for Buffalo Ent. I have a couple questions for them but unable to find the phone number.
Thanks Steve

I think the number is (360)652-7684. I need to find a few pictures of how the T5 shifter looks in a finished cab. I'm sure there are some around either here or on Stovebolt, just haven't looked yet. Bob
