Yes, the Chevy II sump is near the middle, not in the rear of the engine as in most cars and trucks. This makes for a different dipstick location further forward on the block and a different oil pickup. I did the same swap you're planning; a truck 250 in my '67 Chevy II. I fretted over it for a while and finally drilled a 3/8" hole in the block at the proper location. Was not a big deal, did it with a sharp bit and a battery drill. If you need the location clarified I could probably e-mail a picture of my car's original 194.
This all depends on how important original appearance is to you. I've been told the rear sump pan will work on a deuce, but comes close to the steering linkage. Never tried it myself.
