hi, I am almost done building my engine and im not sure what kind of power to expect out of it so i was wondering if i could get some help in relation ship to so good estimated numbers. It is a chevy 250 bored 30 over with the trw forged 307 pistons with 4 valve reliefs. Clifford adv. 270 cam with .524 lift. The head is home ported and polished head with manley streetflo valves. 1.94 int. and 1.50 exhaust. crane cams aluminum roller rocker arms. clifford intake and streetrod headers with duals all the way back and a 390 holley carb. There is also a petronix conv. on dist. with msd ignition and coil. Thanks any help would be appreciated.

Well I'm guessing Only That you are useing the 250 head Because you didn't say if this was a 194 Or the 250.But anyway For what little you upped the compression with the 307 pistons I'd say you are around the 200hp 225 at Very best. Seeing that most stock 250s were depending on the yr around 155hp tops. Hope this helps.}[oooooo]

I put a 700R4 in my 66. It is fairly easy. You will need a new crossmember, a tv cable and a carb adapter for the cable. Depending on which PG you are pulling out, you may need a new driveline yoke or theoretically a Vega driveline has the correct yoke and is the correct length.
Check out Bowtie Overdrives web site for all of the pieces and some good tech info.

hello nice engine combo....if I may add something-when using a 1.7 rocker, your lift on that cam will be .510 -as oppossed to .525 with a 1.75 rocker(Chevy Inline 6 ratio)...many use this rocker but lift is lost.....here is how it works- if you have a valve lift of .525, the cam lobe lift is .300- u get the .525 when you mltiply cam lobe lift by rocker ratio.....( .3 * 1.75 = .525 vs .3 * 1.7 = .510 ) its good to be aware of this.... there are 1.75 rockers available....its all fun so have fun

so Lee what you are saying that with the 1.7 you will lose .015 of the lift of what ever the cam lift is? }[oooooo]

hello....well look on cam card and see the lobe lift .....say your lobe lift is .3334(In), .3468(Ex).....with a 1.7 rocker the valve lift will be>>>.567(In), .589(Ex)........with a 1.75 rocker the valve lift will be>>>>.583(In), .607(Ex)..... a good trick here is if you are going to use 1.7 rockers, grind cam lobes bigger for more lift or even use 1.8 rockers....keep talking to the older drag racers and older round track guys... they have lots of tricks on these engines.....seems they did everything that could be done to these years ago-most everything i have learned comes from these guys who did all this-they already experimented - and found out what works and what doesnt.....but its all fun, so have fun

I see that you remember my cam LOL And all i did was - minus the .015 which to me was faster and still cam up with the same numbers.I was just looking at a little easier way for most, so fastest way would be to just minus .015 off the lift on the cards/cam for useing the 1.7s. once i have this intake dialed in better I my just change rockers sometime to see if it runs any different But I know it will make things a closer to the valves by at least .015 So in looking at it this way if i have a .100 clearance between the valve and piston it will then be down to a .085 So when & if i try this little test I'm hopeing NO big OPPS and play tag with things at the high rpms. anyway Your right It's all about having our fun .LOL }[oooooo]
Ps i just may wait till the season here getts closer to closeing Just in case Mind you it only closes down for about a Mo here
