The lump that he is talking about is in the upper left corner of the port. And NO you can Not CUT this lump out YOU will either hit WATER OR you will be cutting into the front corner bolt boss if you cut to deep.

Now as to the exhaust lump port PE had a set for the chevy head(steel ones) BUT you had to cut the head to install these lumps them weld the head back up,is what he had told me at one time. And that is how that lump was held in place. After I got my set of intake lumps I had made a set on my mill. Seems to me with a little more time I could have made them out of steel Or even a little taller. Closer to what the braze in lump looks like.

Now that I have a head I have been cutting up I may look into this more for the exhust port. It kinda seems to me There maybe a way to do this. But biggest problem is wheather or not it could be a bolt in???? And again another problem is the size of that port to start with It is much smaller then the intake port. So wheather or not the valve flare Of the lump would fit the port opening. And This may very well be the reason for haveing to cut the head in the first place. OR maybe even More of a water hitting issue. I wil try and keep you up dated on what i find. As I am now taking the time I should have 2years ago on doing the tech on how to install the lumps into the chevy head. So i now have a old cracked head to work with and cut up as i see fit. SO far I have a about a half a roll of pictures for this. To show as much of the water port area as well and to where the head can be drilled and Not Drilled. So I will look into this exhust Port much closer at the same time.

Hope this becomes of Help guys/gals
