Can someone confirm the amount of the torque setting on the rocker arm studs...

The book says 50lbs. Does that sound right?

Ctown, even though that does sounds like a lot for a rocker arm stud, if you are talking about a 7/16" screw-in replacement for the stock 3/8" press-in stud, then yes, 50 lbs is OK. If any of the holes poke through to the water jacket, then just make sure you dope up the threads with some sort of liquid teflon pipe thread sealer first (good insurance).

Thanks six.

Yeah, they are the 7/16 screw in studs and they all will need sealer. The only thing I could find was permatex. Is that any good?

I ended up breaking a rocker arm stud last week as I was installing them back in. I had to take it to a deburring place to get it out. I had this place retap all 12 rocker stud bosses and that might have been my problem in the first place. It didn't have enough threads down low I'm assuming.

I'm using guide plates too. I can't believe how much "less play" there is. Awesome deal.

I don't think the brand matters as long as it's got plenty of teflon in it and isn't so old that it's separated.

Congrats on the guide plates, they make a difference when you get the valvetrain up to speed and harmonics get a chance to begin. Those long pushrods on the 292 flex really well, just like a guitar string under the right circumstances. Anything (reasonable) you do to prevent that or damp it out helps.

I'll see if this permatex has any teflon.

I'm going to research that harmonics deal.

Gracias hometown.
