The inlines all came with 1.75 ratio rockers with small holes in small fulcrum balls. The big blocks use a 1.70 ratio, larger diameter studs and larger balls. Unfortunately, there are no interchangeable parts from one type to the other. If you put in the big block studs, and want to use a stock rocker, you will have to use the entire assembly from the big block also. And there isn't much room between the rockers anymore when you do that.

Most times on these engines, the builders use roller rockers when going with the larger diameter screw-in studs.

Are they the 7/16 or the 3/8 studs? if there the smaller stud dia. you maybe able to use the L6 fulcurm ball. But like Just a six said studs are normaly used with roller rockers. }[oooooo]

Thanks for the info. These are 7/16 studs. The big block rockers can't be used as they bottom out on the stud nut before you can adjust them. I have opened up the rocker to allow the stud to fit through, now I have to find some way to drill out the fulcrum or pull the studs and start again.

I've seen studs that have a 7/16" thread for the head and 3/8" sticking up for the rocker. Seems to me Comp Cams had them.

If you are running out of thread on the bug block studs before the rocker touches the valve, then you might try PolyLocks instead of the stock nut. They have an unthreaded shoulder so can adjust the fulcrum ball lower on a given stud thread length.

Your odds of opening up the fulcrum holes are pretty slim, as they are very hard metal.

Good luck, and let us know what you end up using.

Thanks for all the info. I tried everthing to open up the fulcrum balls, but no luck (just a bunch of burned drill bits) I have now pulled the big studs and replaced them with lt1 screw in studs. 7/16 bottom and 3/8 top. Will have to get new stock rockers now as I ground them out to fit the big studs. On the good side, I learned something, I guess that what happens when you like to play. Thanks again

Thanks for the offer Larry. We had already picked up the parts we needed. Now we are on to playing with the 390 holley trying to lean it out a bit as the plug are getting coated in black.
