For you guys running the Holley-Weber staged 2 barrel with an automatic transmission:
Did you ever run into the problem of the engine wanting to bog just before the tranny downshifted? As in passing a car or similar situation were you just stomped on the gas.
I was running one carb with a Powerglide on a stock 194.
Seemed like throttles were swinging open before transmission down shifted, so it would kind of bog, catch, and go again.
Car ran ok, mileage was ok after tinkering with jets and air bleeds. Never got that completely resolved before I parked the car.
Maybe the secondary was still too lean?
