I posted this on the Engine board but haven't gotten any responce so I'm hoping I get a little more action over here.

My question is has anyone run a Clifford 4bbl intake on a 235 with Fentons. If so does the Clifford intake fit no problem with Fentons?

What kind of Carb do I use with it? Clifford syas Carter 38 or Holley 390..is that true? Any good sources for rebuilt vs. new carbs.

I'm kind of challenged for $$ right now and i can get the manifold for cheap with a 2bbl adapter. How would this setup perform with one of Tom Langdons staged 2bbls?

And finally how will a 4bbl perform vs an offenhasuer dual intake with staged 2bbl's

by the way this is for street use and my prorities are reliability, performance, ease of use and low cost.
any advice is greatly appreciated

well to answer my own question since nobody else has....I just called Clifford Performance and they told me that their 4bbl intake doesn't fit with Fentons...don't know if they're just trying to sell me their headers or not?

Also they said the best carbs to use are at least 390cfm 2bbls. They said the Webber 38 is the best choice and that staged 2bbls are too small.

I'd like to get the opinion of someone other than someone who's trying to sell me something though.

Cant provide too much direction except to say that clifford has never failed to $teer me toward buying $omething new from them every time I have called.

Hang tough for a day or two and see what people might suggest. The stock 235 ran with a single barrel Rochester or Carter YF - hard to believe anyone could say that staged 2bbls are too small.

On my GMC w/ Fenton headers modified by Tom, the Clifford manifold fits fine.

As somebody said recently, Mr. Clifford didn't consult Mr. Fenton when he designed his intakes, but don't despair, a little grinding and filing will fix it.

The best source for this kind of question is Tom Langdon at Stovebolt Engine co. He has sold and installed every every possible combination of intake and exhaust for a 235. Tom knows what works
and what will take some massaging. As Ed mentioned, Tom has been known to pre-fit these parts before shipping to customers. And he won't try to steer you into buying something you don't need.
