I have Fentons and a stock exhaust and I'm contemplating using exhaust to heat the manifold. Has anyone done this. Someone must have since Fentons come with holes for this purpose.

What are the pros and cons of Exhaust vs water heat?

My intake is pretty much touching my exhaust manifold so i'm not even sure i need to heat the intake?

Rocket, I've used both, but prefer the water-heated intake. I feel that, during certain situations, like idling in traffic and running at high speeds, the intake heat fluctuates too much. Sometimes, it's just too hot. But, with water-heat, the intake warmth is kept constant. The worst thing is, the heater hoses aren't as easy to make look good. I presently have a 181 Mercruiser engine in a Model A and am quite happy with water-heated intake. Hope this helps.

Lord, let me live long enough to do all the projects I have planned!

did you have to use some kind of butterfly valve in one of the manifolds or in the tubing to make sure the exhaust flows right?

You do not need the butterfly valve.

You can put water thru your old cast iron single bbl intake and the Fentons. Make an aluminum plate with gasget couple fittings. The aluminum plate will need to be severly notched on the firewall side to clear the rear fenton cast iron exhaust. Trial and fit situation. Come out of your waterpump to one of the holes in the alum plate then out of the plate to the top heater hose or to the therm. Works for me.
