To the best of my knowledge the same era 250 P/S brackets will work on a 292 of similar year IF you use a 292 alt. bracket ( it has a 1-3/4" raise to it compared to a 250 alt. bracket ) . This will allow for the adjustment/brace on the back side.
The ones that I am most familiar with are the 1973 and up years . I use the balancer with the three grooves and a deep alt. pulley that has matching three grooves .
I can post some pic's if needed to clarify - just let me know .
Just as a note : This set up is for non-integrated heads .
I have found good luck finding K-10/20/30 series GM trucks 1973 and up with these brackets because P/S was std. equipment on the 4WD's - even on the stripper models. Most of the 2WD's that I have seen with six cylinders are base models with no power steering - look for the 4WD's to find the brackets .
