I noticed in an earlier post someone said you could put a 250 crank in a 194 and have a 250 but it was suggested to use a 250 w/a 194 head with bigger valves why? why can't you just stroke the 194 and use it or is there somthing I'm missing - lower compression? poor performance? Someone else talked about using the 250 w/the 292 crank and 307 pistons has this been done yet?

You wouldn't end up with a 250 by putting a 250 crank in a 194.The 194 can not take the bore. You can how ever use the 250 crank in a 230 and end up with a 250 The Bores are the same. Just the stroke between the 230 & 250 are different. You can use the 292 in the 250 to make a LOW deck 292 But you will also need to have custom pistons. the 307 pistons will not work with the 292 crank in a 250 block.

230s can use the 283 piston, were as the 250s can use the 307 pistons. The 194 head can be used on the 230s,250s, 292s to Raise the compression An depending on the pistons Used in anyone of the blocks will depend on what the compression Becomes.(how High)

is that 307 olds or chevy? also How do I tell if it's a 194 head?

OK- I searched all the post like a good boy and found it's the 307 chevy pistons BUT the casting numbers list DOES NOT say anything about head casting numbers and I don't find any article on identifing a 194 cyl head .Any advice???

What are the Numbers on the Head????Also if you look at the Tech Tips You will find listings for the late heads.194-292
