DeuceCoupe has pointed out the 'fair dinkum' historical experts on the chevy 6. Huntington also published books specifically about the flat-head Ford and Chevy/GMC:
"How to Hop Up Cheverolet and GMC engines" 1951. The reprints of these books are available on amazon.com almost all the time.

The originals show up on ebay now and again.

Both of these gentlemen are my inspiration - which says alot because I have a v-thingie in my garage and it was my original intention to swap-it when I started shopping for an old Fleetline.

Oops did I just admit that on the inliners board?
