I have run the carb both ways.It made very little difference street wise.I had my primarys forwards not backwards /Firewall. I am guessing that you have the newer style clifford which Does not have Runners Up under the carb.
Also like hank said USE the Four hole If you really need to use a spacer It will keep the carb thinking it is on a Lower mount/being close to the intake ,Keeping the vacum signal stronger.
