Has anyone used one of those two inlet/two outlet "SUV" Flowmaster 50's on your inline true duals exhaust system? How does it sound? Does it growl anything like those 5.0 Stangs with FM systems?
Since the "SUV 50" blends both exhaust gas flows in it's 3 chambers, I wonder if it homogenizes the sound too much?

Steve,Last year at the Maple Grove Super Chevy show I asked Flowmasters just about the same question. He "thought" it would have a nice throaty rumble, but they have about zero L6 experience with their products as you can imagine,so he admitted it's a guess. My biggest concern was mating nearly anything they offer to my 2" exhaust pipes. So much of their sizes are larger.Hope someone here can help you as I'll be looking in too.
Okay,I just updated on their web site. I see the inlet/outlet is 2 1/4" for the muffler so an expander could be used.Ain't cheap though!

I definitely want the "six cyl. rapp" sound but want to limit the harshness usually associated with glass or steel packs. An H-pipe usually dulls the RAPP and I'm afraid that the SUV 50 will do the same.
I like the "growl" 5.0 Stangs have with FM's and would like to get that with a six cyl twist, so to speak.
I already have the muffler, so price is a moot point. My plan is; 2" in, 2.25" out, 4' tailpipes ending with 3.5" x 18" bologna cut tips. Those BIG tips really give an exhaust system a deep throaty sound, something you felt more than heard.
In the late 90's my 77 Ranchero (302/Smitty's/BIG tips)used to set off every car alarm I passed going thru 6 floors of my parking garage at work. I would lug it just a little bit and BINGO. I regulary did this every morning and evening and it was a real hoot to hear 15 or 20 alarms all going at once in that garage. Security hated me, LOL. I guess that was just the kid in me. I was in my 50's then, does that tell you anything?
