soliciting an opinion from the group; could an ellis 2x1 for the "big" international six be effectively narrowed and flanges modified (i know a talented welder who is great with aluminum) for the 270h or 302 gmc head?

I once owned an Ellis two-one manifold that was stamped 270 but had been narrowed to fit a 235. it was done so well that it took a while to find where the cut were made. It's metal go for it!

GO for it if your sure it can be shortened. If you can make the mounting flanges first Put them on the head to USE a jeg This will help keep warping to a min.

Anything can be made to work with enough time/money.

Check with Patrick's first, before you invest.

Good luck. \:\)

Since you're in Wisconsin, you might give Tom Langdon, in Michigan, a call. He will likely have a manifold that will fit your GMC without modification, and he might take your International manifold in trade. That would save the International manifold for its intended use, and i suspect you would have a better piece without "doing it the hard way."

God's Peace to you.
