I can think of a couple wild guess circumstances that could mess it up, but most would involve static electricity while playing the radio and a battery charger is hooked up. Not likely. You shouldn't have any trouble with the radio other than a whole lot of dust inside the tuner pile and dirty contacts on the volume control
