To All Inliners Fellows,
During many years, there were 2 engines quite popular among performance enthusiasts here in brasil:
The air cooled VW, and the GM 250. A very healthy and big industry has grown around the VW engine, Mahle Cima offers kits for VW engines around the world, and they are all brazilian built. Some performence cases also. No to mention the stock cases made here and exported to everywhere.
The 250 GM is quite reliable and till today are quite popular around. There are 2 efi versions, one for the Omega and another for trucks. the omega one has a dedicated block, with a different bolt pattern, like the ones in the Olds Quad 4 L4 engine found on FWD newer cars. The truck engine is about the very same, but has the traditional chevy bolt pattern. So no sweat installing them on another vehicle with any tranny suited to a normal 250.
These efi engines are plentiful. To remove the efi and all related parts to fit for example in a non efi 250 engine already in US to reduce costs may be an option. But there are other details: first the super desirable one piece rear main seal block desing, second the lovely 6.000" long rods that came in all these motors, and finally the 12 port head that is required to fit the efi manifold to the engine. I do not sell parts as for living, and this is no place to sell things, but if anyone feels like having one, fell free to mail me and I'll for sure reply all the inquiries. Just as a side note, I love american engines, so any deal is valid, maybe a lot of V8 junk that You may have around the garage may be considered for deals. And fortunate enough for You all, these engines are not all that expensive.
