I have found an old 194ci engine minus the distributor and carb from an old Novall. All I want is the head off of it for my 250 and some goodies from Langdons and off I go. That car head will work in my truck, right? Any suggestions on piston size, rings etc when we start the rebuild?
Looks like I will be asking allot of questions. I did get Santucci's power manual. :p
Thanks
T

Ask Larry "Twisted 6/Novaman".

He is expert on those engines.

Good luck, John M., #3370.

Yes that 194 will work in your truck No problem. What are your plans for this truck / motor. What are some of the goodies? How many miles are on the motor at this time? do you plan on a FULL rebuild of the motor? What are you after a daily street driver? all out race truck? Or maybe little of both? }[oooooo]

Going for the daily driver that puts a smile on your face, complete rebuild w/the 194 head, pistons, valves, rings, etc., 3 2 bbls
Was looking at Norhtern auto for the rebuild kit and langdons for the carbs, etc
Have found a 292 that I might do all this to instead, will see how the finances hold up
Thanks for the help

If you use the 292 I would stay away from a flat top pistion as this can end up putting you into the 11-1 PLus compression Range. But for Either motor. I would try and keep them at 10-1 or just under. When you starting getting Past the 10-1 compression mark You WILL also start needing Much better fuel Then what is at your Local Gas stations. You should also think about stepping the cam up on this rebuild. A few reasons here But Biggest reason being better performance. Like something with a 110-114 lope sep.,lift in the 450-550 range, & rpm power band range of just off idle to the 5500-6000. If you let me know what type of gears & tranny you plain on useing I can list or send you some good choices/ideas. hope this helps }[oooooo]

for me not knowing what all the specks are on your motor Or head it would be best to stay with the stock style pistons. Because of Deck work or head work(milling) or the type of valves used(if there dished or flat) Or even if the head has been milled on a angle. Will play a BIG part in how high the compression can turn out. Hope this helps }[oooooo]
