Your 79 Nova 250 should have come with an HEI from the factory. As it is it is a pretty good distributer to start with. It has the coil built into the cap and shares the same coil and module as the V8 HEI's. For a street engine you can replace the stock module with an MSD that drops right in and you can replace the stock coil with a hi output coil from MSD. Replace the cap and rotor with new and make sure you buy a cap with brass contacts inside instead of the cheapo steel contacts.
For the street I like to use Taylor Spiro Pro wires. You'll have to buy a universal set and they only come in boxes for V8 engines so you either end up with 2 spare wires or 2 practice wires depending on how things go. To get an idea what all these parts are check out Summit or Jegs on line. They both carry MSD and Taylor. Look for the parts that go on a small block Chevy HEI.
