Other than the mounting the switch and routing to the engine compartment, how do you hook up a switch that keeps the alternator from charging so as to reduce the drag eg horsepower consumption of the alternator on the engine. I've read that this is worth 5-30hp almost like a mini nitrous or reduction pulley system for the race that you just must win. Neet on a stock 4 or 6 banger just enough to clime a hill better then back to normal. Low cost.

I don't think that's possible on the 'solid state' ones.

You could however; Put a high Amp. relay in series with the load & de-activate that and acomplish the same thing.

Keep in mind the alternator only puts out the amperage required, at the time. The 5-30 Hp. load only occurs during those periods.

Neat idea though.
